Paraoptometric of the Year
2023 Paraoptometric of the Year - Angela Weger, CPOT, CPOC
The Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP) has named Angela Weger, CPOT, CPOC of Durant as the 2023 Paraoptometric of the Year. The award goes to a paraoptometric who displays outstanding professional leadership as well as service to patients. Paraoptometrics are health professionals who assist optometric physicians in providing high levels of vision care to patients.
Ms. Weger joined Durant’s Clay-Rhynes Eye Clinic in 2016, when she began her career as a paraoptometric. She calls the staff at the clinic her “second family,” and she has worked to support them by rapidly expanding her base of knowledge and expertise. She received her Certified Paraoptometric credentials in August 2016, her Certified Paraoptometric Assistant credentials in February 2018, her Certified Paraoptometric Technician credentials in November 2018, and her Certified Paraoptometric Coder credentials in May 2019.
Today she serves on the Paraoptometric Committee for the State of Oklahoma, the CPOC Item Review Committee, the Job Task Analysis Steering Committee, and is a current nominee for a three-year term with the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification.
“Paraoptometrics are often the glue that holds an office together,” said OAOP Executive Director Joel Robison. “Angela’s passion for her work and her patients is self-evident. Her coworkers say she is a joy to be around and a constant inspiration. We are proud to be able to recognize her great work.”
Angela spends her free time with her husband Chance and her three wonderful children.
