Giving Sight Day: An Annual Day of Service for Optometrists
What is Giving Sight Day?
Giving Sight Day 2024 marks the 5th annual day of service for Oklahoma optometrists to give back to their communities by performing free eye exams. It will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The purpose of this event is to increase access to vision care for Oklahomans in-need, to engender goodwill in our communities, and to introduce potentially new patients to the importance of good vision care.
How do I participate?
To join Giving Sight Day, simply open your practice on September 28th and offer complimentary eye exams on a first-come, first-served basis until your chosen closing time. While appointments are optional and must be managed by your office, you are encouraged to make your participation as accessible as possible.
Some clinics may also choose to provide complimentary frames/lenses or offer a coupon for these items in conjunction with the eye exams.
Can I Participate in Giving Sight Day Outside of the Scheduled Day and/or Time?
If you cannot participate on the scheduled day, you can host your event within one week before or after September 28, 2024. Please specify your chosen date and time on the sign-up form.
Who is participating?
The Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians invites all Oklahoma optometrists to participate in Giving Sight Day. A list of participating doctors will be available at Patient Center | OAOP (aoa.org)
How is Giving Sight Day being promoted?
Giving Sight Day will be promoted through the OAOP social media channels. Additionally, OAOP will provide a media toolkit, which includes graphics and customizable press releases for participating clinics to promote their involvement across various media platforms. Furthermore, we plan to engage with statewide media outlets to help amplify the message and reach a broader audience.
