What is Giving Sight Day?

Giving Sight Day 2026 will take place on Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Now in its seventh year, this statewide day of service is a powerful opportunity for Oklahoma optometrists and their staff to give back by providing free eye exams to those in need.

The goals are simple but impactful: increase access to vision care, build goodwill in our communities, and help more Oklahomans understand the importance of healthy vision.

We encourage all members to consider participating—whether by volunteering, donating resources, or spreading the word.

How do I participate?

We encourage you to make your participation as accessible and impactful as possible—while also fitting your practice’s schedule and capacity.

Most practices will open their doors on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering complimentary eye exams on a first-come, first-served basis. However, you are welcome to choose a different day and time that works better for your team—we recommend any date within one week before or after the organized event!

You’ll also decide:

• Whether to see patients by appointment or walk-in only (your office manages scheduling).
• Whether to offer complimentary glasses, discounted frames/lenses, or a coupon in conjunction with the eye exams.

We’ve seen practices across Oklahoma participate in various ways, but what matters most is your willingness to serve.

Please communicate your plans with the OAOP so we can accurately promote your participation online and through media outlets.

Who is participating?

The Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians invites all Oklahoma optometrists to participate in Giving Sight Day. A list of participating doctors will be available at Patient Center | OAOP (aoa.org)

How is Giving Sight Day being promoted?

Giving Sight Day will be promoted through the OAOP social media channels. Additionally, OAOP will provide a media toolkit, which includes graphics and customizable press releases for participating clinics to promote their involvement across various media platforms. Furthermore, we plan to engage with statewide media outlets to help amplify the message and reach a broader audience.
