What is Giving Sight Day?

Giving Sight Day is the annual "day of service" for Oklahoma optometrists to give back to their communities by performing free eye exams. It will take place on Saturday, September 30, at 9 AM. This event aims to increase access to vision care for Oklahomans in need, engender goodwill in our communities, and introduce potential new patients to the importance of good vision care.

How do I participate?

We ask that you open your practice at 9 AM on September 30 to all interested patients and perform eye exams on a first-come, first-served basis until a closing time of your choice. Your office may choose to make appointments; however, OAOP will not assist with making appointments.

While it is not required, some clinics may also offer free frames/lenses or a coupon for frames/lenses in conjunction with the eye exams they administer. In addition, offices will be able to determine patient protocols to ensure the safety of participants and staff.

Can I participate in Giving Sight Day outside the scheduled day or time?

Yes, but please host the event no more than one (1) week before or after September 30, 2023. On the signup form, indicate the day and time.

Who is Participating?

The Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians invites ALL Oklahoma optometrists to participate in Giving Sight Day. It will list all participating doctors at OAOP.org.

How is Giving Sight Day promoted?

Giving Sight Day is promoted on the OAOP and participants' social media. We will also pitch statewide media outlets about the event.
